You are the only one who will take care of you. And so you lay brick after painful brick, watching the barrier between you and the rest of the world grow higher and higher until everything else is locked out, but deep down you know, deep within your soul, something's not right. You are not meant to live like this.
You are not made to live like this.
You are a child of God, who made you to live in community and to flourish in relationship with others. When everyone else is telling you to hold back, your choice to live generously is a Countercultural act through which you mirror the generosity of the One who formed you and breathes new life into you morning by morning. Because no matter what the loudest voices say, we are not alone. We are never alone. Through the power of the Holy Spirit given by Jesus Christ, we have been given the greatest gift of all: we have been given the gift of each other.
This is what the focus of worship at Burnt Hills UMC will be this month. Each week, you will hear how you are Transformed, Not Conformed, how you are Clothed in Christ, what it looks like to Love in Action, and how God is calling you to Authentic Living and Authentic Giving. At the end of the series you will be invited to respond by turning in an Estimate of Giving for 2026 as a prayerful commitment to live more generously to live in the coming year.
In order to help consider what a that looks like for you and your household, we have prepared some resources for you to see how estimates to BHUMC's 2025 Ministry Plan were distributed over various levels, what proportional giving could look like for your household on a monthly basis, and some common myths that surround pledging and giving to the the church.
On Sunday, November 23, you will be invited to turn in an Estimate of Giving for 2026 during worship, but if you would like to get a jump on turning in your estimate of giving early, you can do so by clicking the button below. Once you submit it, you'll receive a confirmation email and your giving statements for 2026 will be adjusted accordingly. You can also pick up a Pledge Card any time in the church office.
